EE Live - Supercharging Engagement While Saving Over 300 Tonnes of CO2

Strategic Narrative / Experience Design

Challenge: EE’s annual colleague event brought 4,000 people together every year at the NEC. Extraordinary as it was, it excluded the majority of their 20,000 workforce and came with a significant environmental cost due to all the travel.

The challenge was to create a more inclusive, scalable experience that engaged and inspired every employee - while materially reducing carbon impact.

Solution: Inspired by Apple’s approach, we reimagined the event as a high quality broadcast experience - designed to deliver the same energy, clarity and connection as the live event, at scale.

We created a highly produced, story-led format that brought the world of EE to life through stylish set design (including a busy high street) and short, beautifully filmed segments, making the strategy accessible, engaging and consistent for all employees, wherever they were.

Impact: The approach significantly increased reach and engagement across the organisation, while delivering a substantial sustainability benefit:

- 300 - 350 tonnes of CO₂ saved by replacing mass travel with a centralised broadcast

- Engagement scores: 4.5–4.7 / 5 across key measures of pride, clarity and belief

- The show was recognised industry-wide, including winning Micebook’s Best Internal Communications Event

Role: Strategic narrative lead, experience design, director
